Karl Rove Service

Tony Snesko

CBS Studios in Washington, DC

On a beautiful Autumn Sunday morning, Brad, our process server, arrived at CBS Studios in Washington DC to await the arrival of Karl Rove to serve him a subpoena.  (Our research indicated that he would be on “Face the Nation” hosted by Bob Schieffer.)  CNN and CBS cameramen were poised to tape Mr. Rove’s arrival and Brad just blended in with them while he waited.  When Mr. Rove’s black SUV arrived and he exited, Brad approached him, held out the subpoena and said, “Good morning Mr. Rove, I have subpoena for you.”  Mr. Rove ignored Brad and walked into the hand extending the subpoena and, in full view of the rolling camera’s, Brad released the subpoena and let it fall to the ground at Mr. Rove’s feet and announced, “You are served Mr. Rove.”  Mr. Rove refused to acknowledge receipt as he left the subpoena on the ground and continued into the studio.  (Service need not be acknowledged to be effective service.  The person being served need only be notified and aware that he is being served and must be reasonably able to take possession of the document.)  Mr. Karl Rove was personally served. Good job Brad!
